For those looking for topnotch quality portable generator that they can use for recreation (camping and outdoors) and residential contingency measures (backup or supplemental electricity), you will probably need not look beyond the Honda brand. Yes Honda generators are probably some of the priciest machines out there but you can at least have some peace of mind when it comes to the product quality and service.
The Honda EU2000i generator is a CARB compliant inverter generator with a rated power output of 1600 watts and a maximum of up to 2000 watts. It is equipped with 2 120-volt AC and 2 12-volt DC receptacles. It is powered by a 98.5cc air-cooled, single overhead cam (SOHC) engine (Honda GX100) with a 1.1 gallon fuel tank capable of churning out 4 hours of electricity at rated load (1600w). Reduce the load to 1500w and you should be able to squeeze out 4.4 hours. Bring down the load down to 650w and you’d get around 8.4 hours. At 25% load, the unit can produce 9.6 hours of continuous power.
Perhaps one of the best attributes of this Honda power genset is its weight and its noise. At a minimum and maximum heft of approximately 47 and 54 lbs., this unit is certainly portable in every sense of the word, which is a desirable trait for recreational gensets.
