Big and Powerful? Look for a Natural Gas Generator!

If you are looking for something with a lot more power than most of the generators featured on this site, then you will want to know about the good reasons why you should check out the natural gas option.

Natural gas generators are considered environmentally friendly generators due to the fact that natural gas are known for their significantly lower emissions of green house gases like carbon dioxide which are very detrimental to the health of the air and the environment in general. That is why many generators today are being produced with this concern in mind and the invention of generators that run on natural gas is one of the fruits of the growing concern for the environment.

The types of generators that benefit from the natural gas technology are usually the bigger generators much like the Generac quiet generators for business series that I featured recently which are intended for bigger establishments that require a lot more juice than any small and portable silent generator can give. Since most of these standby generators that businesses use as contingency power supply in case of power interruptions are not utilized for long, indefinite periods of time, using a gasoline generator will definitely be a bad idea because gasoline have some traits that does not do well with being stored for very long.

For some reason, gasoline was not designed to be stored for very long periods because the chemicals that stabilize it degrade very quickly which cripples its ability to burn efficiently. Leaving it inside a generator that is unused for long periods will certainly be a bad thing for the generator and will likely cause some damage to the engine.

Natural gas generators are also preferred by many for other reasons besides its “green” properties. This type of gas burns very efficiently actually becomes beneficial for the engine because no residue is left inside the engine which means the engine will be cleaner compared to generators that run on petrol gas.

Of course efficient fuel burn also implies that money is saved on fuel costs. Natural gas is also quite cheaper and very abundant. Most businesses that make use of natural gas generators would probably be hooked up to natural gas lines from a utility provider. Hence, there will be constant supply of fuel which means the generators can run even on prolonged power outages. This means no more lining up at gas stations just to keep the power going.

If you wish to go for power generator that also helps efforts to clean up the environment of nasty gas emissions, one of the best options is to go natural. If you have an existing petrol gas generator and wish to get one that runs of natural gas, you do not have to discard your existing unit and buy a new one. There are gasoline engines that can be converted to natural gas engines using conversion kits offered by http://propane-generators.com. Visit their site to find out more.

Generac Natural Gas Generators for Residential Applications

Generac, particularly the Generac Guardian Standby/Backup Series, makes some of the best whole whose generator systems out there. Below is a list of some of the models included in this series:

Generac Guardian Model 5882 – This is the smallest of the entire Generac residential power generator line with a rated maximum AC output of 7000 watts (7 kW) for the natural gas version (the propane version is rated at 8000 watts). It is powered by an OHVI® engine that Generac specifically designed for generators. It produces clean and stable electrical current that can be safely used with common household electrical appliances and electronics. It is designed for quiet operation with a noise rating of 62 dB (A) at 23 ft. distance and at normal load. It is also built with a sturdy, weather-proof and corrosion-resistant enclosure made of galvanneal steal finished with a proprietary coating referred to as Rhinocoat. This model also features a sophisticated microcomputer controller called the Generac Nexus Controller equipped with a multi-language LDC display system for ease of monitoring and control.

Generac Guardian Model 5883 – This slightly more powerful 9000 watt natural gas-fueled model (propane model is 10,000 watts) basically has all the impressive features of 5882. They are virtually the same if not for the bigger engine of the 5883.

Generac Guardian Model 5885 & 5886 – This one is significantly more powerful than the 5882 and 5883. At 16,000 watts, it is more capable of powering an entire household’s electricity needs. It is also built with the features seen in the other models except of course the bigger and more powerful engine.

Generac Guardian Model 5887 – This rated 18,000 watt model should be good enough for most residential electricity needs. It is designed with the same technology along with the other generators in the series.
